Brow
How long will my brows last?
Cosmetic tattooing is designed to fade over time. There are many factors that determine how long your brows will last and it is different for every client. Factors such as lifestyle, skin type, age, metabolism, medications and pigment color affect the longevity of the tattoo. Most clients go 2-3 years before needing a touch-up, if you want to go longer than 3 years you are encouraged to do so.
Does it hurt?
Every client has a different pain tolerance. We use numbing cream to keep clients comfortable. Generally on a 1—10 pain scale, clients rate their pain a 3. Ladies keep in mind that the timing of your cycle can affect your pain tolerance.
How will I know what my eyebrows will look like afterwards?
Eyebrows should compliment your face. Blade & Feather takes your eyebrow hair, hair color, and brow bone structure into consideration. We map out where your eyebrows should be and select a color that is close to your eyebrow color, not your hair color. That way your eyebrows blend in seamlessly. We demonstrate what your eyebrows will look like before we start the process. If there is anything you do not like, please let us know and we can switch it up to your liking before we begin.
Some clients have more sensitive skin than others. There is a possibility of redness and/or inflammation. This is usually gone within a few hours of leaving your appointment. Scabbing is very rare. Most clients experience peeling and flaking that is not very noticeable.
How do I know which service is right for me?
Please fill out our consultation form to see if you are a candidate for a permanent makeup service, and which one would best fit you and your needs
You cannot receive cosmetic tattooing if you are:
Pregnant or breast feeding, currently using accutane, freshly tanned and/or sunburned, taking antibiotics, have rosacea, currently undergoing cancer treatments (must be done with treatments for at least 6 months) have hemophilia, or prone to keloid scars, or under the age of 18. We do not accept transfer clients without seeing your previous cosmetic work beforehand, please fill out the pre appointment application linked above to see if we can service your brows
How should I prepare for my appointment?
1 week prior to your appointment, please refrain from, fish oil, multi-vitamins, tanning, aspirin, retinoids, AHA’s, electrolysis. No alcohol 24 hours before your appointment.
2 weeks prior stop the use of serums to stimulate hair growth on your eyebrows and/or eyelashes.
No brow waxing or tweezing within 3 days of your appointment. If you use Accutane, you must be off of it for 1 year before getting cosmetic tattooing. If you get botox or facials they must be done 2 weeks before your appointment and no sooner than 2 weeks after your appointment.
The day of your appointment do not workout or have caffeine.
What will my aftercare be?
For the first 7-10 days you will adhere to the following instructions: wash them morning and night with soap (provided) and water, then apply a balm (provided). Other than washing them you do not want to submerge them in water, be in a hot tub, take a steamy shower, or go in a sauna. No makeup on your eyebrows and no excessive sunexposure (this includes tanning). Do not use your normal facial cleansers and moisturizers on them. The first 7 days following your appointment you do not want to sweat.
What factors will affect my permanent makeup?
Oily skin: Increased oil production can cause hairstrokes to blur and heal lighter and powdery
Smoking: Smokers may notice that their semi-permanent cosmetics fade faster
Sun exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading. You will want to use sunscreen on your eyebrows daily (even if you don’t plan on going outside) I recommend using Elta MD sunscreen
Bleeding during your procedure: Excessive bleeding during your procedure will greatly affect how your body retains pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, it is important that you follow before care instructions to help minimize bleeding. This includes fish oil pills, anything with vitamin E, alcohol, caffeine, ect.
Immediately after your appointment, you may experience minor redness or swelling around the treated area, which typically goes away within 24 hours. Over the next few hours, the pigment in the skin will oxidize making the brows look darker and warmer (red) than they were initially. This is normal and expected. Pigment typically fades anywhere from 20%-40% once fully healed.
Around day 3-4, you may notice light flaking on the treated area. This is normal! Please refrain from picking at the brows. Doing so will result in loss of pigment in those areas and can cause scarring. Brows may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished healing. Once all flaking is complete (usually around day 10), the brows will appear much lighter. The pigment will darken over the next 4-6 weeks and the pigment will return to the surface of the skin with the healed color.
At 6 weeks, your brows will be fully healed. Whatever pigment that does not return will be addressed at your touch up appointment. At this appointment, we will asses your retention, touch up spots that didn’t stick, and adjust the pigment color if needed. Once the brows have healed from your first touch up appointment, it is recommended that you do not return for your yearly color boost for 24+ months
What to expect:
Lash
Blade & Feather estheticians are properly trained on which lengths and thicknesses of lash extensions should be applied to each individual client. Damage to the lashes occurs when a technician applies extensions that are too heavy for your natural lash to hold up. You do not have to worry about lash damage with us.
Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
Can I apply mascara onto my lash extensions?
You may. However, it must be the NovaLash® brand mascara. Other mascara brands tend to pull at your extensions and shorten the longevity of your lashes.
How should I prepare for my lash extensions appointment?
We require that you do not have mascara on and your lashes are clean when you come in for your appointment. This way we can create a strong bond to your natural lash.
